“A quaint bar tucked away behind an old-fashion-style deli shop counter”

la trastienda: going back in time

The first time I went to La Trastienda with a group of friends, I was fooled into thinking that this was not a tapas bar at all, because what I saw when I went in was just the counter of a very old grocery!  In fact, it was founded in 1836.

This small deli has a large counter, a wide selection of sausages hanging up, cheeses and cured meats, as well as some vintage weighing and slicing machines, which make the place really interesting.

Then we walked through a narrow arch and found out that the seating was in the back. In all, the place is not fancy, but truly cosy and comfortable… and the eclectic-cool-retro atmosphere is fantastic!

They serve delicious foie, superb cured meats and magnificent Iberian hams, among other really wonderful delicacies. However, I must tell you that the cheeses are out of this world!

Definitely stop when you are in town!
