Local wine – Bodegas Enrique Mendoza
Not many people know the region around Alicante is a splendorous wine-producing hotspot. One of the most respected bodegas is Enrique Mendoza, founded in 1989. They firmly believe in natural farming. Indigenous yeasts are used, and insecticides, herbicides and fertilizers are avoided in favour of biodynamic practices.
After having passed strict quality standards, they are now one of twenty five members of Grandes Pagos de España, whose mission is to defend and propagate the culture of “pago” wine: meaning wine produced in a specific terroir that reflects the distinctive personality of the soil and climate.
Great wine comes from a great vineyard.
