Málaga city: The best of both old and new worlds
Some people consider Málaga city just as a gateway to the beach vacation spots of the Costa del Sol. Well, let me tell you that they are all missing a great part, because this once-shabby port town has gone through something of a reinvention.
I love strolling around Málaga City, as it is nowadays a stunning blend of both modernity and tradition, from the 14th century Gibralfaro Castle standing proud over the coast, the impressive Cathedral and its internationally reputed museums, to the magnificent brand new marina—a recent addition to Málaga city— and a sparkling new waterfront, where you can find a wide array of shops, trendy clubs and fantastic dining options.
I use to take a walk down the pedestrianised Calle Larios (unmissable!) because I really like its lively and colourful atmosphere full of international shops, local boutiques, old-fashioned taverns, cosy cafés and charming 19th century buildings.
Believe me, Málaga City displays the very best of both old and new worlds!
