Capital of Smart Tourism 2020

After two decades of change, this city is now successfully incorporating the concepts of sustainability, accessibility, innovation and culture into its smart tourism strategies and actions.

Among other actions, the city of Malaga has installed public LED lighting, created over 20 bike hire stations, built over 40 km bike lanes, installed smart water saving watering systems for parks and gardens and introduced an Air Quality Sectoral Plan to reduce air pollution, monitor pollen levels and improve noise quality.

Within just two decades, the city has gone from having 4 museums to having 37. That makes Malaga the second city in Spain with more museums, after Madrid
